Very narrow aisle(VNA) pallet rack system is a variation of
standard selective pallet rack system. It reduces the width of
aisles to leave more space for storage. Racks are designed tall so
as to make best use of limited available space in warehouse.
By narrowing aisle width, more racks can be compacted into a
warehouse to produce more space for cargoes. Usually, the aisle
width can be reduced by up to 1.5m which saves up to 40% space for
storage.

Since working aisles are narrowed to save space for storage,
standard counterbalance forklift is not suitable in the system and
a special forklift called trilateral forklift is required for
storing and retrieving cargoes in very narrow aisle pallet rack
system.
Trilateral forklift can rotate its fork to reach both sides’
cargoes without turning the direction of truck, so it is able to
operate in very narrow aisles. Besides, sometimes there is a guide
rail in the aisle of VNA pallet rack system to guide the direction
of forklifts in very narrow aisles.
VNA pallet rack system remains the most prominent advantage of the
standard selective pallet rack system that is 100% selectivity. The
height and depth of racks are customizable and depend on customers’
storage needs. But usually, it’s designed as tall as possible to
make best use of available vertical space.

Very narrow aisle pallet rack combines the advantages of selective
pallet rack and a high-density pallet rack that it make better use
of available space in facility and at the same time maintain direct
access to all the stored pallets.
Very narrow aisle pallet rack system has to be equipped with
specialized forklifts especially designed for narrow aisles. There
are guide rails on both sides of the aisle so as to guarantee the
safe movement of forklifts. Forklift in narrow aisles doesn’t need
to turn its direction to reach bilateral pallets because its fork
can rotate to realize the operation.
