stored effectively in the rack system only if safety can be
completely ensured. A safe pallet rack system is not only a
guarantee for the security of stored items but also assures the
safety of personnel working in the warehouse. Basically, the
following points should be taken into account to make sure of the
safety of a new pallet rack system.
♦ Geographic and geotechnical conditions
It is necessary to search out the geographic and geotechnical
conditions of your facility in which you are going to build a new
pallet rack system so that enough safety precautions can be taken
to resist natural force, especially earthquakes, which may cause
damage to racks.
♦ Dimensions of your facility
Give the engineer who will be in charge of the design for your rack
system warehouse drawings, which indicate detailed dimensions,
including size( length, width, height), layout( position of racks,
doors, offices, pillars, etc.), and type( normal or frozen
environment).
♦ Information about stored products
What products are you going to store in the warehouse? List
specific information about types, sizes, and weights of stored
goods.
♦ Details about pallet cargoes
Determine the size of pallets used for storage and the weight of
goods placed on every pallet. It is essential that the established
racks can match up with the size of used pallets and the weight of
pallet cargoes is uniformly distributed.
♦ Type of used racks
